Brand strategy
Before deciding what a brand looks like, it is best to resolve why it exists and what place it aspires to occupy.
Before the form, the idea
The thesis behind the brand
Every project starts with a fundamental question: what has to be true about this brand for the business to work. Everything else grows from there. We diagnose the positioning, define the brand architecture and find the idea that guides the decisions that follow (design, content and presence), so that none is made in isolation.
From strategy to system
Strategy translates into a brand system. Naming, territory, architecture and tone of voice become decision-making criteria, allowing an identity, a campaign or a webpage to always answer to the same idea. This system gives the brand continuity once the project ends: it is the living framework each team uses to make coherent decisions over time.

What is brand strategy and how is it different from design?
Brand strategy defines why a brand exists and what space it wants to occupy, before deciding what it looks like. It is the groundwork (positioning, architecture, territory, tone of voice) from which the identity, content, and campaigns are born. Design gives shape to that idea; it does not replace it. Without strategy, design is decoration without direction.
How is a brand's positioning built or updated?
Starting by understanding what makes it different and what place it can credibly occupy. For a new brand, it is defined from scratch; for an existing one, the starting point is to distinguish what is essential and what is best left behind. In both cases, the work leads to the same result: a clear positioning that guides all subsequent decisions.
What does a brand strategy project include?
It depends on the scope, but it usually starts with a positioning and competition diagnosis, followed by the definition of the brand territory and architecture, and is finalised in a system of messaging and tone of voice. The result is not a document to be shelved, but rather the criteria with which all subsequent design and communication decisions are made.
What is brand architecture and when is it needed?
Brand architecture is the structure that organises how the different brands, lines, or products of a single business relate to one another. It is needed when a company grows its catalogue or sub-brands and the customer begins to lose track of what is what. Without this structure, each new launch competes with the previous one instead of adding value.
How long does a strategy process take?
A complete positioning and architecture require several weeks of collaborative work; a tone of voice or territory review, less. We prefer the time needed to reach solid conclusions over a quick deliverable that leaves loose ends.
Do I need a strategy if I already have a visual identity?
If that identity does not respond to a defined positioning, yes. Many brands have a consistent image but do not know how to explain why they communicate the way they communicate. Strategy does not redo the visual work: it gives it the direction that makes it defensible over time.
How much does a brand strategy project cost?
Every brand arrives with a different question, and the scope of the strategy depends on it: a positioning diagnosis does not have the same depth as a complete brand architecture with naming and tone of voice. That is why we do not work with fixed rates. We define the scope in an initial conversation, free of charge and with no obligation.
